The Fuse Factory & hOm present Dream Temple

An immersive, visual art & ethereal sound healing experience taking place inside the oldest church in Columbus.
(you won't want to miss this, seriously)

On the evening of Saturday, May 18th, we are thrilled and delighted to feature a collaboration between VR/AI/moving image artist Krista Faist and Jesse Cale of hOm’s new “eyes open” sound bath experience Dream Temple as part of Krista’s 2024 Fuse Factory artist residency.

Accompanying Krista is experimental projection mapping group Mural ReMix.

The Fuse Factory’s 2024 artist-in-residence program is supported by mediaThe Foundation.

Dream Temple

hOm wants to welcome you to experience a new style of event in their sound healing series titled Dream Temple. An “eyes open” sound healing experience involving a rich exploration of ambient music, sound healing, cymatics, and immersive visuals projected and performed in the sanctuary of Old First Presbyterian Church in collaboration with The Fuse Factory for artist Krista Faist’s artist residency.

In Ancient Egypt, Dream temples were considered healing sanctuaries. People would be prepared by means of ritual for a hypnotic state and given suggestions to induce dreams, thought to be sent by the gods. The priest would interpret their dreams and cast out evil spirits from the body and mind.

The Ancient Greeks also had sleep temples. They would follow a special sleep ritual to incubate good dreams and spend the night in a classical temple dedicated to the healing god Aeslepius. Their dreams would be interpreted by a therapute – an early form of therapist who made a diagnosis.

So we invite you into our Dream Temple experience, blurring the lines between the dream and the dreamer (and to celebrate Jesse's birthday). An experience that can be described as otherworldy, psychedelic, mystical, spiritual, and surreal.

We will have experience enhancing mocktails provided by Conscious Seed, dream interpretation, and more from 8 pm to 8:45 pm.

Dream Temple will be similar to a hOm Sound Bath, but attendees are encouraged to keep their eyes open and watch the projection mapped visuals during the sound healing experience. Seating will be in the church pews.

The sonic elements of the ambient sound bath will be more electronic, melodic, experimental, and involve more compositional movement than a traditional hOm Sound Bath.

About the artists:

VR and generative animation artist Krista Faist’s colorful and experimental works seek to invoke an aesthetic over-stimulation leading to expansiveness of imagination and wonder. As a child, Krista developed a desire and vision to see all colors and textures at once, including colors never seen before. With each project, she sets out to capture a sensation of believing in a world’s-worth of possibilities just outside of one’s senses.

Jesse Cale is an interdisciplinary artist, poet, & sound healer from Columbus, Ohio. Jesse has been awarded gold records for his work in instrumental composition, composing music for brands like Google, NASA, and Redbull. He was once left in a mug of hot water for roughly three minutes and the resulting “tea” turned out to be a refreshment that would be served at events of historical prestige, including but not limited to, the creation of the world and the sinking of the Titanic.

We want to thank the incredible church body of Old First Presbyterian Church for letting us create Dream Temple inside the oldest church in Columbus. It is a beautiful, old building so please be respectful of their property at this event.
